PF's Celeb of the Week

Hilary Duff 5'1" I was never really a huge fan of Hilary, just a little older then her key demographic. But, over the past year her style seems to be growing more sophisticated and I've been loving her new look. She always looks casually glamourous, even when she's shying away from the paparazzi. She's definitely got the attention of fashion editors, as she graces numerous covers every month. The REAL reason she got my attention is due to her new fragrance. Take a whiff at your nearest fragrance counter and it may appeal to your grown senses as well.

"With Love...Hilary Duff" It personifies the many dimensions of today's modern young woman - driven to dream and to make her dreams come true with passion, dedication, and love. Youthful and fresh, she exudes an optimistic confidence with a sense of authentic style and infinite possibility.

P.F's Celeb of the week

Rachel Bilson 5'3"She is always a "fashion do". You may know her from watching "The O.C", I'm not an avid watcher, but I take note of her style. She's able to throw an outfit together without looking sloppy. What I love about her style is that she mixes contemporary pieces with vintage pieces and still gives off a classic feel. I like that her outfits don't scream labels or trends, it just looks effortlessly chic. I love that she wears petite appropriate clothes too, she never looks like a kid wearing her mom's clothes (like Nicole Richie or the Olsen twins).

Cinderella feet?

Are you still shopping in the girls' shoe departement? Here are some grown up options for your pretty little feet.

Thanks to online retailer "Cinderella of Boston" you now have a variety of great styles to choose from. Don't settle for whatever fits. Also, you don't need to be afraid of buying shoes online. They encourage all new customers to fax an outline of their feet standing so they can better judge your size. If they still don't fit, you can exchange them for the correct size. Although, for exchanges you will have to absorb the shipping cost. But, hey, if you have small feet - they have small shoes. Starting at sz. 2 up to 5.5. They also carry a variety of widths, that is why faxing an outline of your foot is important.

Before this, I have never seen shoes smaller then 4.5. Tiny feet deserve designer shoes too!

What a shop girl knows

Here's what a salesperson is really thinking...

I asked myself the questions that I some readers wanted to know. Seeing that I work at an upscale boutique in Toronto, after all who better to ask.

Do you lie to customers and tell them they look great so you can earn your commission?
I never lie and say something looks good that looks bad. I don't receive commission, not all stores do and even if I did it would never be worth it. I want to earn the customer loyalty, rather then one pressured sale.

Sometimes I feel as if I'm getting a hard sell, I feel pressured, why is this?
It could be that she really thinks it looks great on you, or she's really likes a certain garment or label and she's not listening enough to your feedback. If she was she would know it wasn't your thing.

Is it annoying when a customer has you help her for a long time and then doesn't buy anything?
Yes, but not as annoying as when customers ask for discounts and complain about the price. We almost never have control over these things.

Do you lose your commission if I return an item?
In my sales experience (at numerous places), no.

Why do you always ask for a phone number and zip code?
The store wants your phone number so they can call and tell you about sales and special events. Sometimes they need to ask for your zip code for credit card security—also so they can track how many people from your area are shopping at the store.

If a salesperson is rude to me, what should I do?
Tell her you're going to speak to her manager, then do it.

Is there a best time to shop?
Weekday mornings are often very quiet and you'll get a lot of personal attention

What can customers do to be better shoppers?
Be informed about store policies—sales, special events, returns, and exchanges. And be polite to me. It'll make me work harder to search for clothes in your size, and I'll tell you about upcoming sales.

Legendary Petite

The iconic Ms. Dolly Parton (5'0") was recently honored at the Kennedy Centre. So many fabulous petite celebs were present including Hollywood's single blond bombshells, Jessica Simpson (5'3") and Reese Witherspoon (5'2"). If you're not already a fan, watch the clip and you'll understand why so many people love her! Jessica Simpson was having a really hard time singing her tribute to Dolly, she was so nervous she forgot the words or froze we're not sure.. Anyways, we love you Dolly, keep struttin' your five foot frame!

Lookin' Lovely Loungin'

I couldn't believe my eyes... Petite Yoga Pants? This has made me so happy. What better weekend wear? The store is called Athleta and they're a destination for your weekend and active wardrobe. Where I live in Toronto, yoga pants are the uniform, with a Starbucks in one hand, and a cute dog in the other. I have always wished for a new line that was of quality, reasonably priced, and fashionable. I have never found a pair that I liked less then $100, and they were always 5" to long anyway. Rest assured fashionistas, these will fit, with inseams of 29". They ship to Canada & the U.S. I can't wait for people to ask me where I found my new yoga pants (that I didn't have to hem).

Every woman deserves a bra that fits!

Hey Ladies! You may be petite and not be petite in the chest, but if you are, I found a great place to shop and some tips (www.lulalu.com) They carry 30AA, 30A, 30B, 32AA, all the way to 38A. Read the comments from their product testers, you'll gain all the confidence to shop there! So, really find out your bra size and get yourself something special for under all your winter layers.

How to Determine your Bra Size

STEP 1: Determining Band Size
Measure around your body, just under your arms but have the measuring tape meet at a point above your upper chest area. Do not make it too tight or too loose. If the number is even, then that is your band size (i.e. 34”). If your measurement is an odd number then add 1”. For example, if you measured 31” then round up to 32”.

STEP 2: Determining Cup Size
To ensure accuracy, we recommend you measure yourself while wearing an unpadded bra. Using a measuring tape, measure around your body across the fullest part of your bust. Again, this should not be too tight or too loose. To calculate your cup size, subtract your band size from Step 1 from your cup measurement. The following chart provides sizing details.

Difference Cup Size
Less than 1” AA
1” A
2” B
3” C
Most manufacturers assume a 1” difference between cup sizes but some use 1½” or even 2”
