I loved both of these dresses when I seen them on these petite celebs last year and they are definitely worthy of mentioning in '07. Brittany Murphy 5'3" in a satin purple Sinha-Stanic mini-dress paired with slick patent heels and Rachel Bilson 5'3" in a Zac Posen stunner. These starlets make 5'3", look quite leggy in their minis. After all the mini was made just for us...

Scarlett Jo' as Cinderella

Leave it to the creative minds at Disney to partner with the fabulous photographer Annie Leibovitz for the 50 year anniversary celebration campaign. This partnership has produced this sophisticated, dreamy photo featuring Scarlett Johansson 5'4" as Cinderella for the “Where Dreams Come True” promo. The first set of these amazing photos were posted on Yahoo last Friday and if you close your eyes for a minute you almost believe you are in the middle of your favorite childhood story. Petite Blog: Some Small Sense
If you're looking for more petite fashion advice visit Some Small Sense. Amy's blog reports on her shopping experiences and provides store reviews. She is a very petite woman at 4'10", she is well aware of the struggle to find clothes that fit. To make her blog even sweeter- she lives in the Fashion Capital, New York, New York, where she should have the best selection right?
A word from Petite Fashionista Amy: "Clothes should make you feel good about yourself. The right suit will make you more confident for important meetings. That sexy dress will certainly help turn heads. But wait, that's not for people like me. How comfortable do you really feel if that jacket is too big in the shoulders and waist? Still just trying on your mom's clothes? How seductive do you feel when every dress you try on is baggy and saggy? Doing the little dance in the dressing room to pinch and pin down all the parts that need a little nip, tuck, or hem lift (and hoping that tailor will actually do a good job)? I find it insulting that I regularly make it a habit to check the children's section since the "grown up clothes" don't work for me. Sound familiar?" Visit often and drop a comment or two.

Saturday Shopping
My sis called me up to go shopping with her to find a suit for her very important internship interview. We headed to the Eaton Centre (downtown Toronto) in search of the perfect suit, with $500 budget we thought we'd have no problem finding something suitable in that range. My sister is a 'classic sophisticate' and she wanted her personality to shine by choosing an outfit that didn't over power her small frame but expressed her style. After all, her interviews are in Toronto and they may be paying attention to these details.
Our first stop was Banana Republic, where we headed straight for the petite department. I was quite excited they had this section, but the selection was limited. Jen and I chose one beige coloured suit with pink undertones and a light pink hued shirt to go underneath. It fit, in the least flattering way possible. It was boxy and screamed "off the rack". I was very disappointed in the quality for the price point, the suit priced over $500 with tax. We both agreed that she could find something she loved enough to equal her rent money.
Our second stop was 'The Bay', where we split up to scour the 3rd floor. We found every bad association with the word petite, everything was ultra conservative, wide, unflattering and quite frankly too "mature". In the midst of all the granny country club get ups was a small taste of what could have been. A line called 'I.N.C petite' which was youthful, contemporary, and petite. I guess this customer doesn't shop the Bay 3rd floor because the selection was very minimal. But look what I found online @ Macy's:
a little something for me...
and a perfect dark chocolate suit for Jen.....
So, after a yummy lunch at 'Cultures'. We tried our luck at 'Mexx', 'BCBG', 'RW&Co', 'Jacob', 'F Carriere' and H&M and came out empty handed (I wasn't shopping). What I hoped was going to be a great time to shop because of the sales turned out to be dreadful, if you're in the market for a suit. What good is an amazing blazer at 70% off if the only matching pants sold out 2 months ago? My lovely sister was so frustrated by the lousy fit and poor selection at all the stores that she decided to wear her tried and true black suit from 'Victoria's Secret'. She's having the hem taken down a half an inch to go with her shoe purchase from Aldo (black pumps $69.99 reg. price) with a new crew neck shirt (that she hasn't picked up yet) and once she's freshly pressed and pearled she'll wow them with her classic sophisticated self.
What I yearned for in passing:
A sunshine yellow chanel inspired suit from 'H & M'
The ADO(RED) shirt from the 'Gap' Project Red

Baby doll dresses
A fun and fabulous trend from the runway that is flattering for petites. Baby-doll dresses, with their forgiving fit and romantic feel, are they elongate your look. Flirty, flowy, and feminine, they are a perfect staple for work, weekend, or travel. Wear with flats for day and transform for night with chunky stacked heels. For instant, effortless style, choose one in a bold, solid color or floral print. And if you’re feeling extra daring, try a geometric pattern. Best of all, these dresses work wonderfully well with this season’s essential accessories. Try layering with leggings underneath for a not-so-hot day or cinch high above the waist with a funky belt for an edgier look.
My obsession (above):
Milly Gigi floral dress
milly
$234.00
Multi-colored floral print silk knee length dress with ruffles and black ribbon tie.

Miss America

America Ferrera 5'1"
You already know 22-year-old America Ferrera from movies like "Real Women Have Curves" and "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." But every Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC, America shows up in our living room in a bad wig, giant braces, and an awful wardrobe. As Ugly Betty, she gently challenges our ideas of beauty and what makes a girl successful.
Last week she walked away with two Golden Globes for Best TV Comedy Actress and Best TV Comedy Show in style wearing a custom-made Brian Reyes dress. I watch Ugly Betty every Thursday where I became a huge fan of America. Her speech at the Globes moved me and everyone else in the audience. America may have bushy brows and wear hideous clothes on her hit TV show, but there is nothing ugly about this captivating star. Ugly Betty" is played by a beautiful girl who is a positive image for girls everywhere.

Insider advice
PF: Christie Pinesse
Height: 5'2"
Occupation: Manager, Jean Machine
Advice when shopping for jeans:
Know your size and what fits your body best. It's key to know what rise, leg cut (boot, straight, flare etc.), the amount of stretch you prefer and wash (colour preference). This helps eliminate trying on a bunch of styles that wont work. Last but definitely not least, try on, try on, try on.
Your fav pair/brand of jeans:
I tend to always lean towards Silver jeans, they get points for style and comfort. My favorite pair at the moment is the Silver "Toni". They are a lowrise, slim bootcut, and the wash is comparable to Rockin Republic.
Are there any petite lines that you carry: Mavi and Silver jeans are offered in petite lengths, Mavi comes in a 30" inseam, and Silver in a 31"
Do you have to alter your jeans?:
Almost always! Even the 31" Silvers, are a little too long, so I usually get a Euro-hem done. This means they take off the original hem, shorten the pant and then put the original hem back on. It's a little more expensive then a regular hem but worth every penny! With the euro-hem you cant tell that the pant has been altered at all. For those girls who don't like to get their pants hemmed, cuffing is always an option. Just try to stick to a straighter leg when cuffing, it will stay up easier, and look more tailored. Cuffing flares just looks sloppy and pants usually end up dragging.
What's going to be super hot for Spring?:
Skinny jeans aren't going anywhere, but for those girls who don't quite like super skinny's can try the Guess "Daredevil", Mavi "Olivia" or the Silver "Toni". Deep blue washes with a contrasting white fade is hot right now, and I'm seeing a lot of grey washes as well. Be daring and try the grey, it will go with a lot more colours than you think!

Advice from Cosmo
While flipping through Cosmo today I came across some advice for petites.
"To elongate your legs, rock a super short length (the miniskirt was pretty much invented for your bod). Wide or capped sleeves and ruffled edges help broaden your shoulders."

Making the most of your jewels
Jewelry should complement your outfit and it's a fun way to add a new spin to your wardrobe. By knowing which jewels to wear, you can make the most of your assets and expand your options in the morning. Being petite it's easy to look overwhelmed by many bold pieces, but it doesn't mean that you are limited to dainty or barely there styles.
Here are a few general rules for everyone given by the divas at "What Not To Wear"
1. If you've got a large chest and you're embarrassed to show off too much flesh in a v-necked top, wear a large necklace to
cover the area.
2. Never wear a scarf or necklace over the top of a roll-neck dress.
3. Don't wear long pendants that nestle in your cleavage if you have big boobs.
4. If you have a double chin or your face is chubby, opt for longer earrings.
5. If you have a short neck, avoid large, choker-style necklaces.
6. Chunky costume jewelry is a stylish way to add colour and individuality to your outfit
Lesson #9 Pants
1. Look for straight leg trousers with front creases
2. Wear your pants slightly long with heels
3. Match your top to your pants for a longer look
4. Be careful with cuffs and wide leg pants
Thursday, January 4
Lesson #8 Jackets
1. Look for shorter, cropped styles
2. Choose single breasted jackets
3. One or two button closures are best
4. Opt for jackets with narrow lapels that taper above your natural waist
5. Be careful with jackets with lots of details, embroidery, buttons, etc
P.F's Mascot KYLIE!
I'm welcoming home my Christmas present, a yorkie-poo who is 8 weeks old. I hope her outfits will fit in a few weeks !
She found my new gold flats, $12 from H&M in the girls department (regular price).
Lesson #7 Coats
1. Choose a length that stops above your knees
2. Empire waist, high belted and fitted styles are best on petites
3. Narrow lapels that taper to your waist are flattering
4. High necklines are also very flattering on petites
5. Be careful with double-breasted and heavily embellished coats
