Not on the "A" team

She sure isn't on the "A" team, like some of us 32AA petites, but not all petites are. Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, 5'3", size 2; has her own very popular swim-wear line where every size woman can find a suit that fits (sz. A to DDD). Shoshanna is top heavy with a slim bottom, so she had a really hard time finding things that fit. Growing up it was hard not to look too provocative, so her mom came to her rescue and reworked dresses so that she could wear a bra underneath. Shoshanna's mission is to help busty women look great in things they thought would never work. Her own philosophy on dressing is opting for more wholesome fabrics to reduce the "va-va-voom factor" and strapless necklines instead of v-necks this way she flatters her figure while still feeling comfortable.
Girl's got style

I won't be naming her "PF's celeb of the week" today (DUI charges and all). But I must say, "girls got style!!" Now, I'm sure not many of you are fans of 'Simple Life' co-star Nicole Richie "5'1", still I can't ignore just how darn cute she is any longer. Although her personal life is a little hectic, her fashion sense is sublime. She always looks chic and casually glamourous.
She throws back to to the 60's with a little bad girl rebellion. I really hope she never escapes the paparazzo. I need my weekly 'Richie Fashion Fix'. Keep it clean Nicole, so I can talk about how fab you are in and out.![]()

PPOV (Petite Point of View)
Tracy Paul, 5'2", size 2 has her own brand-marketing agency (the Lance Armstrong Foundation is a client)
THIS SPORTING LIFE Athletics changed Tracy's physical image from shrimp to powerhouse and gave her early confidence. "I played soccer, tennis, and golf and I did gymnastics. I still exercise everyday. It's important to have an interest or passion to rely on your sense worth, so you're not just obsessing with looking good. "Tracy doesn't dwell on her small stature-"Once people engage with you, they forget about it almost immediately." On the plus side, she adds, a short woman doesn't seem intimidating, which can be useful.
SHOPPING SHORTCUTS "I don't struggle to find clothes," Tracy says, She's figured out which brands work for her body and which don't . Of course, she has to get pants and skirts hemmed (that's where the tailor comes in). She prefers fluid styles, nothing boxy or stiff, and a close, precise fit: "You don't want too much fabric"
SHOES STAY GROUNDED "I have to be comfortable; otherwise I'll feel horrible all day. I've worn sneakers my whole life-I must have 35 pairs. I also love ballerina flats. I wear heels sometimes, but for reasons of style, not to look taller."
Must Have Petite Accessory

Petite Designer Spotlight

Designer: Kerry of TRYST BY KERRY Jewelry
How tall are you? A little under 5'3".
Where do you shop? My fav shopping spots are Queen St. and Kensington Market in Toronto. Both places have such unique shops that carry things that aren't found at typical shopping malls.
Who is your fav designer(s)? I love the classic style of Chanel and the wild look of Roberto Cavalli's designs. I'm a really big fan of Andy The Ahn as well, a fellow designer from Toronto!
What do you have the most trouble shopping for? Dress pants and mid length skirts, I'm still looking for that perfect pencil skirt.
Do you alter everything you buy? Sadly, all of my pants need alterations.
What is your fav. article of clothing? My Harley Davidson black heeled sandals, I could walk forever in them!
Thanks Kerry! Keep up the great work!

CHRISTINA AGUILERA 5'2"
The Grammy performer (and winner, for best pop vocal) goes back to basics with her pale pink Ungaro gown. So where's her best accessory – husband Jordan Bratman? Off getting a haircut.
Sexy comeback

NELLY FURTADO 5'1"
The "Promiscuous" girl adds some bling to her shredded white-and-gold Roberto Cavalli dress, accessorizing with chunky gold earrings. So how did she prepare for the Grammy night? Furtado—along with hairstylist Laini Reeves and makeup artist Colleen Creighton— gave PEOPLE the scoop. Eschewing a nutritionist or personal trainer, Furtado stocks up on fresh fruit, steamed veggies and water two weeks before the show and tones by rehearsing for her upcoming "Get Loose" tour. "The dancing is a great all-over body workout," says the singer, who favors Liftoff energy drink for quick pick-me-ups. Reeves uses Kérastase Nutritive Lait Nutri-Sculpt on Furtado’s hair, since throat-irritating hairspray is usually off-limits: "Her hair responds better with the least amount of product." For the red carpet, Creighton uses softer makeup on the star, like Shu Uemura sheer face powder. At performance time, she adds extra coats of Giorgio Armani mascara. To turn up the glam for afterparties, Creighton dabs MAC Lustreglass lip gloss in Instant Gold on the star’s lips and curls her lashes with a Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. And most importantly, "I just want to look hot all the time,” says Furtado.

P.F's Celeb of the week

Natalie Maines 5'3"
I was so thrilled to see the sophisticated and exuberant Natalie at the Grammys. She looked absolutely flawless, she made a statement with various gold chains around her neckline, which is perfect for the Grammys and looked effortless on her. The change from blond to brunette with her smoky eyes gave her a sultry look. Natalie and the ladies of the Dixie Chicks took home 5 awards (in every category they were nominated for), including Best Record and Best Song for their anthem Not Ready To Make Nice. They sure looked chic in comeback mode.
A few q's for Natalie courtesy of EW.com
Did you fit in or stand out growing up?
I was a rebel who wanted to break the mold; it was sort of my one-woman mission. I had the half-shaved head, yet I was a cheerleader. It's kind of like what we're doing now: Hey, we can be country and still look how we want to look.
With your half-shaved head, you must have been a rock chick at some point!
I loved all the arena rock stuff in junior high I wore heavy-metal T-shirts. In high school I was more of a hippie free-spirit; I wanted to learn about the music and the politics of the '60s.
What do you listen to now?
In my CD player at home I have Lauryn Hill, Patty Griffin, Joe Ely and the Dixie Chicks new album.
What is it about country music you love so much?
Texas country has always been in me; my dad playing in bands in Texas was part of that. I think we redefined country for ourselves.
In what ways are you a country girl and in what ways are you a city slicker?
I'm a country girl in that I love the mountains, and I like the honesty and pride of people in the country, and in my regular everyday life I don't put makeup on . . .sometimes I won't even take a shower! Yet I'm a city girl because I do like to shop, I do like the finer things.
How did you know you had made it?
I think that the Grammys really said something. We genuinely thought we had no chance, it was no pressure, we just went to have a good time. I mean, Madonna was sitting a few rows in front of us, we talked to Will Smith, had our picture taken with Boy George it was just fun for us. So when we won, all the blood drops to your feet and you can't believe it. It was so cool because when I think back on it I can get that feeling all over again. And that was the feeling I dreamed of ever since I was a little girl.
Did you always want to be a star?
This is going to sound weird but I've always known it would happen. I kind of have premonitions about things.
What was the secret ingredient that you added that made the Chicks really click?
I think it was confidence or stupidity. Emily and Martie had been in the band for a while and wanted to change but weren't sure how, and I came in like, "Whew! Y'all are awesome players, I can sing, we're going to pick great songs, they're going to love us!" It boosted their confidence and kept us all determined.

Carrie Bradshaw withdraw

I watched reruns of Sex and the City last night and I forgot how happy and inspired Carrie Bradshaw made me feel.
When Carrie struts her 5'4" frame along New York sidewalks in her 4" heels while wearing the latest trends and creating her signature style. With a little help from Jimmie Choo, she always stood tall while going through her NY dramas,.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s flawless, petite body played mannequin to Patricia Field's “trend setting fashions.” Women desired every piece of clothing and wished long and hard for Carrie's closet and style. Even though some pieces would look ridiculous on most women - that was the hook of the show. What was Carrie going to wear this week, who would she end up with, Big or Aidan, and would she ever find true love?
I am having Sex and the City withdrawal and need another trend-setting, go-getting character to fill the void....I guess for now, I’ll just have to continue to watch the reruns until another fashion icon comes around. Anyone else feel this way?

Dress is more

Anthropologie has six gorgeous petite dresses to choose from (not all shown). They carry petite cuts in their pants as well. I was delighted to find such a charming selection of colours and styles, why not build your wardrobe in dresses. Nothing's more romantic then a flirty dress you feel great in.
Happy Birthday Rosa Parks!
Pioneer of Civil Rights
Date of birth: February 4, 1913

Rosa Parks (5'3") was the unknown seamstress from Montgomery, Alabama who refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. On December 1 1955 she became well known as the woman who began the modern civil rights movement in the United States. This brave woman, Rosa Parks, was arrested and fined for violating a city ordinance, but her lonely act of defiance began a movement that ended legal segregation in America, and made her an inspiration to freedom-loving people everywhere.
