During these nice long days of summer I enjoy nothing more than taking a leisurely bicycle ride on a Saturday afternoon. Whether doing errands or riding to the beach, being on a bike is such a wonderful way to feel the sun on your skin and the breeze through your tresses. But of course, the Petite Fashionista does not want to look grungy or grubby on her bicycle…she must be cycle chic!






Check out Chloe Sevigny on her vintage folding bike! She looks effortlessly chic while multitasking on a trip to the market. Chloe may not be a petite but she is always fashion forward. Her casual look is clean and comfy, and her green bicycle is so adorable. I am in the market for one just like it - most folding bikes are great for petites because the frame is so low. Plus they fold up to fit in the closet or behind the sofa in a small apartment.

It goes without saying that your bicycling outfit should be comfortable and fashionable, but don’t neglect the bike itself! I am drooling over all the super cute bicycles available. Just think of what you could wear to turn heads while riding this amazing Electra Amsterdam bicycle with the colorful sunflower design! I imagine a lovely flowing white eyelet dress over a patterned bikini, or a fun pair of bright shorts with a simple white tee.

If you already have a bicycle but need to glam it up, here is a fantastic basket that was featured in “O” Magazine a while back. It is called the “Carrie” basket and it is modeled on Swedish lace designs. It comes in several colors, but this bright green sure is fun! Throw your beach towel and summer reading in there and you are good to go for a day at the beach. Or toss in some snacks and have a picnic in the park. The handy strap would be useful for a jaunt to the farmers market for some fresh fruits and flowers. Ah- the joys of a summer day!
