Message from Hayden
Just checked my email and found an email from petite celeb and activist, the darling Hayden Panettiere 5'1
Hey Christa Jean!
Thank you so much for your constant support of Save the Whales Again! As you know, there are so many more animal issues that need to be dealt with and one of them is seal clubbing. We are holding a competition to draw as much attention to this gruesome slaughter as we can! Come be a hero and take a stand with me. These beautiful animals are not only gentle, but are killed in the most inhumane way. They cannot speak for themselves or beg for mercy, but WE can be their voices for them! It's time to put our foot down. Let's save the seals!
XOXO,
Hayden

Petite Fashion Tip of the Day
Tip# 4
The print or pattern should not be bigger than your fist. If it's bigger, it's too big for your frame.
The exception to this would be the larger floral patterns this season, when they're done in a soft way.
Petite Fashionista at WellSpot 2008
On Saturday I had the opportunity to atttend WellSpot, that was organized by the site Healthy Girl.
It was a day full of inspiration on living your best life.
I'm pictured here with petite trainer and fitness expert Jennifer Ettinger, who will appear on Petite Fashionista TV in one of segments we're filming this weekend.
Stay tuned...

Petite Fashion Tip of the Day
Tip #2
Curvy Petites, look for fluid fabrics with lots of drape.
P.S Rules are made to be broken, just know what styles you can count on for "go-to chic".

Calling all Petite Brides to Be!

Laura Novak, a fellow reader and PF, emailed me regarding her experience shopping for a wedding dress. She documented her search beautifully on her blog, LauraNovak.net. Make sure you read this if you're shopping for your dress, as it's very helpful.
I'll be working with Laura on putting together an extensive post on which styles and details to look your best on your big day.
I'd also love to hear any of your stories on how you found your dress and where you got it from.
Petite Fashion Tip of the Day
Hey PF's!
For the next 2 weeks or so, as the new site is being finished up, I will post a Petite Fashion Tip of the day. Feel free to add your tips in the comments section and I'll add all the tips to the new site.
Tip #1
Don't forget that petite sizing is based on height, NOT WEIGHT. Petite clothing is geared toward women 5'4 and under, no matter what your size. So tell your friends who who are under 5'4, "hey your petite, read Petite Fashionista!".

Mary Kate & Ashley's Latest Creations
Usually I'm a bargain shopper, but I might just have to splurge on one or two pieces from the mini mogul's line, Elizabeth and James this season. They're staying true to their cutting edge, hard mixed with soft style and it seems to be working for them. This latest collection is filled with sequin mini skirts, cut-out dresses, feathered mini skirts, tailored blazers and boho dresses.
We already have the mini thing going on, so it shouldn't be too hard for us to add mogul to our style description too.

Stella McCartney Must Be Petite!

I've been noticing that many of Stella McCartney's designs are super flattering on petites, including Kylie Minogue and Lilly Allen.
Her designs season to season often have the features that I mention here on PF. So, I wondered is Stella petite?
Turns out, I don't think so. Seeing as she's pictured here with supermodel Naomi Campbell (5'9) and Kate Hudson (5'6) and looks about Kate Hudson's height.
Ah well, at least she was thinking about us during the design process.
Petite Friendly Blazer
- tailored empire waist to flatter curves & elongate.
- easily altered sleeves.
Petite Friendly Jacket/Top
- belted waist to flatter curves & elongate.
- no need to alter the sleeves.
Petite Friendly Dress
- vertical angles on the dress to elongate.
- no need to shorten the dress, this length will hit us above or just at the knee.
Petite Friendly Shoes
- low cut, shows more of the leg.
- neutral color to compliment skin tone.
Petite Friendly Capris
IMPORTANT: This is exactly how petites should wear capris, right down to the style of shoe.
Petite Friendly Top
- sweetheart neckline detail is flattering on all petites.
- tie waist, again - a very friendly petite detail.
Petite Friendly Shorts
IMPORTANT: This is exactly how petites should wear shorts, right down to the style of shoe.
Take inspiration from these examples when you're out shopping this season.

PF'S TOP 10 ITEMS
Thank you to everyone who entered the contest!
All the answers were great!
Reader, GA Peach's 5 answers were the closest.
GA Peach: please email me your mailing address and I'll send
out your prize.
Here are the next 5 items to add to the petite fashion must have's list:
#6 Black Pointed Pumps
WHY? They continue the line of your dark; pants, tights or jeans.
Result- longer legs!
#7 Waist Cincher
WHY? Accentuates the smallest part of a woman and makes you appear
taller with longer legs.
#8 Boot-Cut or Straight Jeans
WHY? These are universally flattering no matter what shape of
petite you are.
*Wide legs or skinny jeans are great too, if they suit you.
#9 V-Neck T-shirts
WHY? Makes the eye move, creating the illusion of height. Plus, its shows off a great neck
and a little cleavage is flattering, but wear a cami underneath if you're really busty. That way
you still get the benefits of the V without the gawking of unwanted eyes.
#10 Fitted Jacket or Blazer
WHY? Same idea as the waist cincher, plus highlighting our female curves (the best ones) and creating the oh so flattering hourglass.
#11 BONUS: CONFIDENCE
This is the most important item that we need to wear every day to look our best!
Thank you to reader Tiffie for mentioning that!
