Hi PF's!

Vancouver is a great place to shop with great local Canadian designers and stores. One of my favorite stores is Vancouver based store Plenty, it carries clothes for every style, from classic slacks and pencils skirts, to funky one of a kind pieces. I most recently bought two items are:

Shoes are my weakness, so when I saw the Mallory boots in apricot from John Fluevog I was in loove! The best part of this purchase was the price, these boots were on sale for $139 from $269, how can you walk away from a price like that. These boots are trendy yet funky. The boots are versatile; the flaps can be pulled over the knees for a funky, yet refreshing look or keep them folded for a classic look. John Fluevog originated in Vancouver but has expanded to Toronto, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and San Francisco. John Fluevog are very funky yet very comfortable. Their moto, "Unique Soles for Unique Souls".

And finally, again from Canadian designer Matt and Nat, I bought the Sade clutch in Black. I was debating between olive and black. I settled with the black one because the detailing on the clutch was a silvery grey, and because my favourite jacket, a leather motorcycle jacket is olive, it would be too much.

We do, we do!

Now that the weather's right, shorts are now in sight!

Here are a few quick tips to take advantage of the flattering effects that shorts offer 

us petites, without giving the wrong impression.

• When you're showing leg, cover up on top. No shorts and slinky tank tops unless you're at the beach.
• The heels and shorts combo is super flattering on us, but save the heels for night. For day try a tan or gold sandal that's flat or with a 2 inch wedge.
• Dress them up or down and accessorize!

It seems that spring has finally decided to show up here in Toronto and I for one couldn't be more excited. Why? Because I can finally shed some of those layers from the long winter that has finally left us and because of all the new spring/summer collections that are hitting the local beauty counters. Not only is the change in season a great opportunity to try something new, it is also a chance to clean out our makeup bags to make room for all the wonderful new products.

So with that said, here are some things to keep in mind when cleaning out your makeup bag.

For liquid and cream based products such as foundations, blushes, lipsticks, lipgloss, and eye and lip pencils( yes pencils are considered a cream) you'll want to discard them after a year from the date that you opened it. For the eye and lip pencils, please make sure that you are sharpening them on a regular basis and that you are not sharing them; it's an easy way to get an infection.

For powder-based products such as foundations, blushes, bronzers- these have a shelf life of about 2-3 years. If your compact comes with one of those thin plastic discs, keep it as it will act as a barrier between the powder and the puff. As you use the powder puff it collects the oils from your skin and if you place it directly into the product the oils from the puff will transfer in to you powder and contaminate it. Eye shadows are good for up to three years, after that you'll need to throw it out.

Please note that these are guideline and that ff you notice that there is a weird smell or that the consistency has changes, throw it out.
