Don't want your name to be in the same sentence as "Did you see what __________ was wearing?" Take note of these 3 fashion crimes that when committed are the least forgivable.
1. Wearing or even still owning jeans that are too tightLadies if you're holding on to jeans that are so tight that the only way that they'll fit is after getting a stomach flu- PASS THEM ON! Dress for your body now, not the body that you had. Trust me you'll look much better and feel more comfortable. I promise to only wear jeans and pants that make me look and feel great!
2. Invest in classic well tailored pieces. Ok, this one isn't a stop and stare situation, but it is always really obvious when people skimp on quality for pieces that require; a great fit, quality fabric and construction. There's still a place for "fast fashion", but those pieces need to be mixed with quality to get a high end look. You can save money on "of the moment pieces" that don't have to last, their purpose is simply to update your wardrobe in the short term. Think of stores such as; H&M, Forever 21, Zara and others with amazing fashion at great prices and so-so quality.
Treat yourself (within your means) to an amazing blazer, a crisp white dress shirt, the most flattering pair of dress pants, a pencil skirt, a great suit and/or a classic perfectly fitting coat.
Rediscover the classics and build your wardrobe around those pieces.
3. If you're showing lots of leg, put your boobs away and vice versa.
If you're mindful of this rule you'll always master the perfect combination of sexy and classy. It's so simple yet, so true.

Hey PF's
This trend is gaining momentum and this is one that petites fashionistas need to approach with no how. Here are 2 examples of fellow PF's Reese and Hilary.
The flattering way that elongates your petite stems.... Reese is working with trend! She manages is look current by wearing the latest, while adding inches to her frame and elongating the look of her legs by choosing a shade that matches her legs.
The high fashion way, that shortens your legs...
Hilary here is "breaking" a cardinal Petite Fashionista rule, but it goes to show that all rules are made to be broken.
While the harsh black and the heavy style of the shoes is shortening her legs. She is balancing this out by elongating her look with a a high waisted above the knee skirt.
So, what are you waiting for?
Either way this trend is hot, of the moment and can add inched to your look.
We can wear every trend, it's just about making it work for us!

Good luck!

Being petite has really worked out for this petite celeb, read on.....
It's not often that I'm surprised when I find out the heights of actresses in hollywood, since I have written about most of the well known women under 5'4. But, this one was a surprise, I never would have guessed that Roselyn Sanchez was a petite fashionista! It must be her strong presence on screen, plus the fact that I think some of her male costars were on the shorter side. Now we have a new petite celebrity to celebrate!
Quick facts
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico
It is said that she is 5'5, but since there's usually an extra inch tacked on, I'm betting 5'4 max.
Rise to Fame In 1991, at the age of 18, Sánchez moved to New York City, where she took classes in dancing, acting and singing. She returned to Puerto Rico and in 1992, she made her movie debut, having landed a small part as an island girl in the movie Captain Ron, which was partly filmed on the island, starring Martin Short and Kurt Russell.
In Puerto Rico, she gained public attention as a dancer and co-host of an island's variety show called Que Vacilon.
Petite contest rose Sanchez to International Fame! In 1993, Roselyn won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest and in 1994 she won the international title of Miss America Petite. This contest rose Sanchez to international fame. Since then she has been named to numerous annual lists of beautiful women including Maxim Magazine Hot 100 in 2001, 2002 and 2006; AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women in 2005 and 2006; FHM Magazine 100 Sexiest Women in 2005 and 2006.
Big Hollywood Break In 2001, Sánchez was cast as "Isabella Molina", an undercover United States Secret Service agent who was Jackie Chan's love interest in the hit movie Rush Hour 2. In 2003, she played the role of "Lorena" in the movie Chasing Papi starring alongside Jaci Velasquez and Sofia Vergara. Sanchez has already acted in 20 movies, including the role of Maria in Edison as well as the role of Karen Lopez in Underclassman. She's a Singer too In 2003, her first musical recording Borinqueña was released. The album first single "Amor Amor" gained a lot of attention as well as a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Music Video. She appeared in Craig David's music videos Hidden Agenda and Personal and in the Fabolous video for "Make Me Better".
Petite Charity Sánchez is a supporter of animal rights and active member of PETA. She recently appeared nude in a PETA ad in support of anti-fur campaign efforts. She is the spokesperson of the Fundación de Niños San Jorge, which attends sick children of poor families.

by Susanna Commisso I love a pair of sturdy, sexy boots! As an accessory, they can make an entire outfit.
The 5'3 petite in today's post is wearing a simple grey sweater and black pants but her boots take the outfit to another level. They also lengthen her leg and give her a little lift.
Remember a few years ago when the style was to wear your boots under your pants? I always thought that was such a waste of a good boot design... all hidden away under my jeans. Although it was a great excuse to wear my boots with a sexy dress or skirt, I'm glad the fashion Gods have deemed it fashionable to show off a pair of sultry boots for all they are worth!!! 1. Sweater Dresses & Tunics
Take the easy dress code of breezy dresses from the summer and find its version for Autumn.
Find comfort in the sweater dresses and tunics that are widely available. They will provide you the ease os dressing and the simplicity of throwing one on with a pair of tights or leggings and you're ready to go.
This one piece wonder is very flattering on petites, as it elongates our frames with it's streamlined quality. BCBGMAXAZRIA Graphic Sweater Dress 2. A Perfectly fitted Coat in a Great Color
Finding the perfectly fitting coat is no small task for petite women, so start shopping now if you haven't already started. Buy petite if you can, if not find one that fits in the waist and shoulders and then have the other areas taken in (sleeve length, coat length etc.) When shopping make sure that you ask the shop guy or girl if they take care of alterations and if the alteration that you have in mind is even possible. Sometimes with intricate details and lining it can make a job next to impossible and very expensive.
In terms of style look for one that is fitted in the waist and/or is belted. I'm encouraging a pop of color for your everyday coat, but if you find the perfect coat in a neutral buy a vibrant scarf instead.
I'm not a big stickler when it comes to rule about color, but keep in mind which colors look best on you, which make your features stand out and which give your skin a nice glow. You're either warm or cool, check this link for some tips on color.
3. A Cozy Cardigan
This is my favorite discovery this Fall, in theory it's just a long cardigan but in real life you won't be able to take it off. I have a few versions from fine knits with cowel necks to chunkier versions like this one.
This piece is great for transitioning your summer dresses that you are not ready to part with. Simply throw on a pair on tights and boots and it's an instantly flattering and current look.
Look for one that is fitted close to your body, not loose or boxy.
4. Something in this Royal Shade
What a fabulous color! There is a shade for everyone, if you have warm undertones opt for a cooler-bluer tone near your face and vice versa if you have cool undertones.
Having an accessory in this color will give you a fresh look. Try this shade from everything from a purse, shoes, hats, belts, dresses and more.
 5. Leggings & Tights
Fall and Winter are great seasons for showing off your legs too. Wear your tights with tall boots, booties or pumps. Embrace all sorts of tights in patterns and colors, just make sure you're stocked up on the forever flattering black tights (a la Vera Wang).

I was just contacted by Old Navy's publicist and she told me some excited news! Old Navy.com is proud to announce the arrival of its new Fall Petite and (Tall Collection), available exclusively online at www.OldNavy.com. Now, Old Navy Women’s Collection (sizes 0-20) offers selections that have been specifically tailored and proportioned to fit the needs of petite women. The new size options are available exclusively online and all at great Old Navy prices.
Flattering Fits for Fall To create a pretty and well-balanced silhouette this fall, Petite Women should look for: • Short cropped jackets: Great jackets are always essential for the fall. Cropped jackets especially, with their shorter sleeves and waistlines, ensure a flattering fit for most petite
women. • Boot-cut and flared jeans: To wear these latest jean styles, petite women should select a
dark color and make sure that the top of the bell flare hits at the knee. Pair these jeans with dark- colored top and high heeled shoes to create a taller appearance. • Small prints: Choosing from a variety of delicate prints this season, petite women can
create visual interest to their outfits, without overpowering the entire look. • Fitted skirts: To wear fitted skirts, make sure that the hem hits just above the knee. This
will create the illusion of longer legs.

Good morning, Christa!
I have picked up a couple of great sweater dresses for fall, but I am curious about what most people are wearing underneath them. I have the hardest time finding slips that are proportioned correctly, but wearing a bra and hose without a slip leaves undesirable lumps and bumps (and I am a thin girl). Comfort is key for me, especially at work. I need to focus on what I am doing and not on adjusting my undergarments.
Do you have a solution? What are petite fashionistas wearing under their sweater dresses this fall?
Thanks so much for your great blog and unending fabulous advice!
Dori
Hi Dori!
Thanks for reading PF.
I love a great sweater dress with tights or leggings and sometimes the best styles can be quite figure hugging. When shopping for a sweater dress be sure to choose one that just skims your body and does not pull anywhere.
Even with the right fit, super fine knits can show bra and panty lines. So, for those styles you are right in seeking out a great undergarment.
There are 2 styles I'd recommend. The first being a slip that is seamless. This is a comfortable and luxurious piece that will allow the sweater dress to just skim over your curves and camouflage any lumps or bumps from your bra or the seams of your tights.
The second style (show here in black) is a shaper which will take inches of your figure and give you a seamless silhouette like the style above.
I LOVE the sweater dress/tunic with tights/leggings for petites. Have fun with this look, dress it up or down - all while staying cozy!

I recently met fellow petite fashionista Cherlynn Moore at an event in Toronto and she told me about this amazing service that she was offering to her female clientele. While I don't own a car because my life is in the city there are many women I know who could use a little knowledge when it comes to their car maintenance. Whether it's to change the oil or to know what they are talking about when they go to the mechanic. WOMEN GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AND LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF CAR MAINTENANCE AND SAFTEYFinally a rare chance for women to learn all about the maintenance and safety of the cars they drive every day! Firestone Personal Auto is proud to announce a Free Women’s Car Care Clinic designed for its female customers to educate them on the importance of vehicle maintenance and safety. “This is a first in the community and we think it’s imperative that women learn about maintaining their vehicles properly”, states Organizer Cherlynn Moore. “We have already conducted our first clinic and received rave reviews. Its fun and its free and women leave feeling empowered and with more knowledge of understanding their vehicles, than when they arrived”, says Moore. The clinics are lead by Cherlynn Moore and Personal Auto’s experienced technicians. A basic overview is done around tire maintenance, checking air pressure, where to find your spare tire and women have the fun and unique opportunity to use the air gun while learning how to change a tire. They also learn about how to check vital things under the hoods of their own vehicles. To coincide with Car Safety Month, on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:00pm until 8:30pm, Firestone Personal Auto will conduct their second free clinic for Women. Attendees are asked to wear a pair of comfortable shoes and come ready to learn and have fun! Personal Auto provides safety glasses and shop coats as well as complimentary refreshments and snacks. Spaces are limited. The newly renovated Firestone Personal Auto Service is located at 535 Brant Street in downtown Burlington, next to Joe Dog’s. It has been servicing the community since 1991. Personal Auto service is your one-stop, on-the-spot, auto service headquarters for the complete line of Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton and Fuzion tires and other major brands. In addition to tires, Personal Auto is an automotive repair and maintenance facility. Hi Christa Jean,
I want to say thank you for your blog. My wife is petite 4' 11" and I am sometimes hit or miss on sizing and style with what I get her. Your knowledge on what works well on petite people is great and gives me some wisdom. I'm pretty good on the style on what she likes but your blog gives me a lot of help. Places to shop is really helpful.... especially the shoes - size 4-41/2 foot. Lots of hits and misses in that department.
Anyways, thank you!!!

I just love 1970s flair and the boho-chic look for the fall! There is something so fun about mixing saturated colors, patterns and textures that just brightens up a windy fall day. I can’t really pull off a full bohemian look working in my conservative office, but a few great pieces can give the feeling without going over the top.
Jewel tones like amethyst and ruby are awesome for autumn. Add romance to a work outfit by wearing a feminine blouse with a tweed pencil skirt. If you like, pair with some tights in burgundy or to match your skirt. Mix pattern and texture to get that boho feel. This blouse from 7 For All Mankind has that breezy boho look in a beautiful purple shade that is so in right now. Or this lovely tie neck top by Style&Co available in petite sizes for a 1970s vibe .
Another way to bring boho-chic to the office is by wearing one or two pieces of dramatic jewelry and keeping the rest of your outfit subdued. I like a simple sheath dress with dangly earrings (like these fanciful owl ones by Tarina Tarantino), or tweed pants and a cashmere sweater with a bold necklace (this dijon jeweled pendant is by Rachel Leigh). To lengthen your look, keep the pants and sweater in the same neutral color family, but for boho-chic I would avoid black and go with soft browns or grays instead.
If you need to stay super conservative at your workplace, why not throw on a patterned silk scarf with bright coat to add some boho glamour to your trip to and from the office? As the days get chillier, spice up your wardrobe with a coat in a saturated color like this violet coat from Banana Republic in petite sizes and a fair trade paisley scarf sold at tenthousandvillages.com.
Brighten up the breezy fall days with some boho-chic style!

Although I often refrain from wearing jewelry, it is without a doubt that accessories transform your outfit. From the heel to the head, accessories are ever present objects and I've picked some magnificent trinkets for fall. From heels to necklaces and hats to scarves, a Petite's most glorious dreams lie in that the sizes (excluding shoes) are one size fits all. Plus, all these accessories are under $100 Whoever's in charge at Old Navy is definitely doing something right. After ignoring them from my radar for a while, the pass few seasons has really been impressive. Although these aren't exactly Fall accessories with their bright punchy colours and charm, I'm a true believer in seasonless dressing. With these accessories, you'll never go wrong. 1. BraceletThis bauble bracelet comes in such gorgeous colours that it's hard to resist. With great shades for everyone, pair with a 3/4 length sleeve to show it off. 2. Satchel At its price, on sale at around the mid 20s, it's a great buy. with faux quilted leather and a great shape with gold hardware, I might buy this for myself. High impact accessory at such a great price.
 3. RingsI've usually got such a distaste for cheap jewlery, but scoring in around 5 bucks, this is worth every penny. 4. BraceletThis braclet reminds me soo much of candy canes and childhood memories. Charming and elegant, this bracelet really goes nicely with just about everything.
5. FlatsI'm usually a girl who loves high heels but this pair of flats have me smitten. The adorable bauble and slight shine to the shoe really are simply lovely. To me, this is more of an accent shoe and when wearing bold colours, don't worry too much about matching.

by our Californian Contributor Shoshannah Summer is over. Boo hoo!! I’m sad because it is my favorite season. Luckily here in Southern Cal we still have a bit more warm weather before the chilly winds of October and November kick in. Happily, we can still enjoy our summery dresses for a few more weeks by combining them with cozy sweaters and cute jackets. I have been inspired for early Autumn by looks from the movie “The Edge of Love” with Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller. They pair flirty floral dresses with chunky sweaters, tights and boots for an adorable rumpled effect, perfect for a relaxed weekend daytime date. Unless it is raining, no need for the wellies, you can choose a sleek pair of leather boots or a pair of flats. If you want to take this look to a more elegant event, try a simple cardigan for cleaner lines. Another way to extend your summer dresses is to find a jazzy jacket to wear over them. I often do this at the office to make a fun dress more work-appropriate. I love this new tweed petite jacket I saw at Ann Taylor Loft. It would look great over a simple sheath dress, or even paired with jeans and a tee. The fun ruffles in front add pizzazz to a smaller chest and the belt tie highlights your waist. The wide v-neck opens up your neck and chest, making you look longer and taller. I love it! Enjoy these last weeks of warmer weather if you have them!

While the PF team didn't attend this years NY Fashion Week, it's a great thing that there was another fellow blogger there with a great eye for street style and lucky for us quite a few Petite Fashionistas caught his eye (of course they would!).
Fashion weeks are always hectic stress inducing lovehates for the models, designers and the PR people making sure that everything gets done right and on time. For Scott Schuman, it bears a plethora of opportunities to capture the chicest of the New York fashion scene to come together and parade in their amazing threads. Scott photographs people in a very personal way and really knows how to capture the spirit of someone in a way that is intimate and casual. Inspiration for the eyes is definately a way to describe his pictures. Although I can't be sure everyone of these ladies were petite, they were definately amazingly dressed. You can check out more of Scott's pictures at thesartorialist.blogspot.com
I love this photograph. You can clearly see the different styles of each woman and their uniqueness.
Each of them dress so differently from each other and for me that's the best part. Also, if you're short, dare to wear flat shoes.
What a cute outfit!
She is really playing up the metallics and shine here and it works subtly.
Her dress, jacket and headband all have a slight sheen too them but aren't overwhelming. Plus the awesome bag really makes a statement.
Bold and amazingly quirky.
I am in love with the print with the two contrasting colours, she looks like a walking painting, in a good way.
The rest of the accessories are black which is key for such a strong dress.
Sequins can work in the daytime, just like she does it here.
I love her bright poppy lipstick and the way that nothing is too matchy matchy.
The grey boots and oversized bag make it much more casual and using a ribbon as a belt is a great way to economize.
It's her again!
I love the unexpected elements like the animal print shorts and her sublty in accessorizing.
The knee socks, the small doses of gold and the mini bag work well to string together an outfit with so many elements.
I love this girl's shoes.
They are sexy and daring for the daytime and the scarf really softens her night clothes.
The tight zip leather skirt and sheer tank evoke biker chic but her tights are the key here.
The skirt would be a little risque if not for the chic tights. When it doubt of length, too short? Better wear some tights to chic it up.
