I had the privilege of meeting Miss Richie in Toronto as she was promoting the launch of her jewelry line at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St.
She was as lovely as you could imagine and absolutely radiant! Could it be the bun in the oven?
I spent about 3 minutes with her and in those few minutes we chatted briefly about Petite Fashionista and I was sure to mention how we are such fans of her style.
I spent most of the evening perusing her collection and trying on different pieces. The prices were very affordable and the pieces were fun and wearable.
I bought these earrings and I'm going back for some bangles to wear on my upper arm ad I took inspiration from her style. She wears multiple bangles just above her elbow, which makes sense when you have such dainty wrists.

I've never been great at planning; when it comes it my style I've always been a bit last minute. I guess that's because getting dressed has always been fun for me.

I am a senior and I was wondering what type of dress I can wear to my prom, and graduation I am 4 feet 7 inches, short legs, very skinny, rounded face with warm skin tone, I weigh 82 lbs., no bust, waist or butt. Things to look for:
Sweet heart neckline which will create the illusion of a bust.
Choose a style above the knee.
Perfect fit is key, if you have to make a few alterations - it's worth the investment.
Choose a style that is very fitted on your bodice to your waist and then has volume at the bottom (princess style)
When you follow the above it will create the curves where you want them on your slender frame.

You know the tragic story. Girl goes shopping...girl sees gorgeous bangle bracelet from across the room, and runs to it in joy, because it's the perfect accessory to top off that hot outfit she's going to wear that night. Girl slips bracelet on...and then, tragedy strikes...the bracelet is too big and slips right off her dainty wrist, right past her dainty hand, and bounces on the floor...the story is all too real for this thin wristed petite...*sigh*
Well, thanks to a little invention called on-line shopping, thin wristed ladies can adorn their wrists with beautiful jewelry too! Start by measuring what size you need (click here for bangle sizing help), and you'll probably find that you need a bangle size of at least 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Most mass market bangles are size 2 1/2 inches in diameter or bigger, and will fall right off the arm of petites with thin wrists!
One great place to find bangle bracelets in size 2 1/4 inches is Etsy! There are lots of designers on Etsy that offer multiple bangle sizes, or are open to making a special size just for you! If you see something you like, just ask the designer if they would make a smaller one for you.

How many of you have experienced this? A group of your girlfriends talking about how they need to get back in shape for the summer or lose a few pounds here and there--and THEN...they look at your small size, roll their eyes, and say something along the lines of "You're so lucky to be so skinny, you don't hav to worry about getting in shape." (And how many times have you felt like hitting them over the head with a loaf of italian bread--or something equally non-threatening?)
Many people don't realize that "petite" women can also feel the effects of lack of exercise too! For example, I'm 5'1", weigh under 100 pounds, but honest to gosh, I'm probably more out of shape than all of you guys. I don't equate "being in shape" with "being skinny." Being in shape means that you feel strong, have endurance, can go on and on in whatever activity without feeling like you are burning out. I admit, it's been a while since I worked out, and it's hard to get back in the game.
I've started taking baby steps, such as 50 situps 3 days a week (like I said, Baby Steps!!)...and I've also started playing basketball again (well, okay--I did it once last week as you can see from the picture, and want to play more once this NYC rain goes away.) But the point is that regardless of your size, having a healthy lifestyle is an important thing for everyone!

Tyra Banks has been on the look out for petite models (Under 5′7”) for season 13 of ANTM. Casting has been underway since Feb. 28th and is now over.
“There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss,” said Banks of the newly voluptuous model. “So we are changing up Top Model for Cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”

As I promised, I have collaborated with wedding photographer, Laura Novak to bring you some great tips and examples of brides who got their lookright for their big day.Since Laura is a photographer, who sees more wedding dresses in a month then I'll see in my whole life, plus the fact that she's petite and has worked with many petite brides, I vote her to be the expert on this subject.Here in her own words, is her advice and finds to all petite brides to be:
As a wedding photographer, I see so many different beautiful dresses thatit's difficult to even begin to narrow down my favorites. But when it comesto petite wedding dress shopping - trends should really be put aside in lieuof what works best for petite figures.
One big selection factor is the material - based on my experience it'simportant that the material a petite bride wears is not too full and not tothin. A petite girl wearing a huge ballgown can overwhelm her, while a minibride wearing a thin silky gown does not have enough structure to providepresence.
This beautiful slim petite named Christine is wearing a dress by ElizabethFillmore that is all about the beaded, intricate bodice with built in boningfor structure. With detail closer to the top of the dress, your eye movesupward for an elongating look.
Another beautiful petite, Muy, wore a custom designed silk gown in a sheathshape by Atelier Des Modistes of San Francisco with bodice detail and detailaround her natural waist, which lengthens the look of the dress.
Kate, a PF with lots of energy wore a very simple, but structured, Vera Wangstrapless sheath for her beach wedding. The classic lines highlight hernatural waist and draw attention to her glowing smile.
And finally, Kara went a little non-traditional with her Monique Luhlliergown and wore a super cute pink sash to compliment the detailed silk bodice.Although this is more of a ballgown style dress, it does not overwhelm Karabecause the silk fabric is soft and flowy. A sash is an excellent way for apetite bride to draw attention upwards to her natural waist, lengthening herlook.
